Chips in Winter

This is a popular time of year to pick up chips – and we’re not talking about the ones with salt and vinegar! Most drivers experience a chipped windscreen at some time or another, in fact it’s such a common problem it’s tempting to ignore it – but that is absolutely the last thing you should do!

Winter driving is particularly prone to chips from stones and grit being thrown up, and the chilly weather certainly won’t be your friend if you leave it, with the glass contracting in the cold and causing a crack. Even a small chip can very easily turn into a crack if left untreated, which could really spoil your day out. It’s also quite likely to be a distraction or possibly even impair your vision, depending on where it is – definitely not worth taking a chance. While a cracked windscreen will be a replacement job a chip may well not be, so it’s worth getting in touch with us sooner rather than later so we can help you.

We have a great team of qualified windscreen fitters who are experts in their field, and they will be able to advise you on what the best course of action will be – the windscreen is integral to the strength of the car so it’s really not worth taking a risk. We are open and operating all year round – including bank holidays and even Christmas, if you are unfortunate enough to need us – and we are also available 24 hours a day, so there really is no excuse for not getting that chip seen to as soon as you spot it!

As windcreen work is often covered under your insurance, we will work with your insurance company to get everything sorted as quickly as we can, and get you back on the road full of the joys of spring!
